TD₿: Why Bitcoin? by Wiz
TL;DR Bitcoin was not invented for profits but rather to ensure the security, privacy, and freedom of money.
Hey Bitcoiners,
During periods of downward price action and heightened uncertainty, it’s helpful to remember why Bitcoin matters.
When we look around at our world today that seems to be changing at a rapid pace, Bitcoin is something that is unchanging. Approximately every 10 minutes a block will be mined and, at any time, you can verify that only 21 million bitcoin still exist.
Bitcoin was invented not to enrich early adopters, but to enable the financial self-sovereignty of every person on the planet.
Bitcoin allows you to own money that protects you against inflation, seizure and gives you freedom against censorship.
Wiz wrote a blog post that serves as a great introduction on why Bitcoin matters and it rings more true today than when he wrote it a few years ago (07/16/2019).
In times like these, with the increased sanctions, capital controls, censorship, and seizures, we can begin to truly appreciate how important Bitcoin is for the world.
