TD₿: Why Billionaires Are Losing Sleep Over Bitcoin
TL;DR: Bitcoin just hit the mortgage market—now counted as an asset for home loans. Billionaire Philippe Laffont says he panics not owning any. Here’s why Bitcoin’s stuck above $100K—and what's next!
Hey Bitcoiners,
Bitcoin just took a monumental step into the real economy: it's now being recognized as an asset in the U.S. mortgage system. This move—quietly announced by the FHFA—means Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will begin incorporating Bitcoin into mortgage qualification processes.
It’s a massive shift that integrates Bitcoin into a $13 trillion credit market, signaling its evolution from speculative asset to institutional-grade collateral. This development could ultimately be more impactful than ETF approvals, as it positions Bitcoin within the fabric of everyday financial infrastructure, unlocking a future of BTC-backed mortgages, credit scoring, and even sovereign debt exposure.
Meanwhile, despite historic ETF inflows and growing institutional adoption, Bitcoin remains rangebound just above $100K. Legacy whales—OG miners and early holders—are selling into new demand from institutions and retail is largely on the sidelines.
Billionaires like Philippe Laffont are now publicly admitting they regret not owning Bitcoin, a sign of conviction shifting within legacy finance. According to analysts like Dr. Jeff Ross, Bitcoin’s next parabolic move hinges on a stronger U.S. economy and rising liquidity. Until then, we're watching a slow, seismic transfer of Bitcoin supply that could set the stage for a delayed—but potentially massive—bull run into 2026.
