TD₿: Umbrel: How To Run A Bitcoin Node - Parts, Assembly and Software Installation by BTC Sessions
TL;DR If you're not running your own full node, you're trusting someone else to verify the ledger for you.
Hey Bitcoiners,
Running a full Bitcoin node should be on every bitcoiner’s list of goals. It is imperative in order to use Bitcoin in a sovereign manner.
By running your own node, you do not have to trust any other node to tell you that your bitcoin has been sent or received. You can verify the ledger yourself.
Not only does it allow you to be sovereign, but it also helps the Bitcoin network. The more individuals who run a full node, the more decentralized and resilient the network becomes.
Over the years, it has become easier and easier for beginners and non-technical individuals alike to run a full Bitcoin node thanks to improvements in UX/UI design and in educational resources.
BTC Sessions is one of those educators and put out this great video tutorial that runs through how to set up and run a Bitcoin node (10/12/2020).
If you are not running your own node, then you’re trusting someone else to verify the ledger for you.
Therefore, the only node that should really matter is your own.
