TD₿: The Problem with Donald Trump's Bitcoin Support - (a Swan original video) with Hurley
TL;DR: Donald Trump's use of Bitcoin made history, but his crypto project raises concerns about decentralization. BlackRock, meanwhile, is preparing for a $35T debt crisis, investing in Bitcoin.
Hey Bitcoiners,
This week, Donald Trump became the first U.S. president to make a Bitcoin transaction, paying $1,000 at PubKey Bar in New York City. However, the excitement was dampened by the launch of his new crypto project, World Liberty Financial (WLFI).
Bitcoiners are questioning Trump's focus on blockchain rather than fully embracing Bitcoin, as blockchain alone lacks the decentralized, trustless properties that make Bitcoin valuable.
Meanwhile, BlackRock is preparing for a $35 trillion debt crisis by positioning itself with Bitcoin, not other cryptocurrencies like WLFI or Doge. As global liquidity rises, Bitcoin's outlook remains bullish, with platforms like Swan helping users accumulate it as a safeguard against economic uncertainty.
Enjoy!

Job of the Day
Senior SRE/DevOps Engineer
Location: Lisbon / Remote
Full-Time
Department: Engineering / Technology
Compensation: Paid in Bitcoin
We're Second—the new kids on the Bitcoin block. For the past few months, we've been quietly building an implementation of the Ark protocol. Now, we're ready to expand the team.
Ark is a new Bitcoin layer two that enables fast, low-cost payments at scale while ensuring users maintain full control of their funds (through true unilateral exit). With one simple integration, application developers can quickly deliver self-custodial Ark AND Lightning payments to their users.
We have a working prototype and are working hard to make it production-ready. We'd love for you to join us in taking this new technology from zero to one!
Our company is fully remote, and our engineering team is based in Europe.
What's the job?
Your main responsibility is to ensure all our applications run smoothly.
You will:
Create the SLOs for our services and ensure we can meet these objectives.
Select and maintain the right infrastructure for our needs.
Set up and configured monitoring + alerting for our applications.
Support our engineering team with setting up CI/CD pipelines.
Identify operational risks and devise a plan to mitigate them.
Who are you?
You are an experienced SRE and or DevOps engineer. You set the requirements for our infrastructure and have the technical skills to deploy and configure it.
Ideally you:
Have a few years of experience as an SRE or DevOps engineer.
Have experience rolling out applications with strong security requirements.
Are familiar with common tooling in the ecosystem such as bitcoind, esplora, and lightning nodes.
Can set priorities, communicate, and stick to them.
Familiarity with the Rust programming language is a plus.
Don't worry if you don't check all of the boxes above. Passion for Bitcoin and an ability to learn give you the edge.
What do we offer?
Compensation: You will receive a market-competitive salary plus equity. You can choose to receive a fraction of your salary in Bitcoin.
Remote work and office expenses: Work from the comfort of your home. We've got you covered if you need some investment to set up your office.
Company off-site: Working remotely is great and flexible, but knowing your colleagues personally is essential. We'll bring the team together to whiteboard, solve complex problems, and make jokes at least once a year.
Paid holidays: Unlimited paid time off.
We believe in FOSS: Most of your code will be open-source. The wording in your contract will also ensure you can easily continue contributing to other open-source projects (we do, too).

Satoshi-Era Wallets Move $16 Million in Bitcoin After 15 Years of Inactivity
On Friday, around 250 BTC from Bitcoin's early days, known as the "Satoshi era," were moved in five separate transactions, each transferring about 50 BTC to new wallets.
The coins, originally mined in January 2009, had been dormant for over 15 years and are now valued at approximately $16 million. Blockchain analysis shows these wallets are not linked to Bitcoin's creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. They likely belonged to an early miner who held the BTC when it was nearly worthless.

On September 23, 2021, Twitter introduced Bitcoin Lightning tipping, allowing users to send and receive Bitcoin through their profiles. This feature was part of Twitter's broader effort to support content creators by offering new monetization options, including connecting third-party services for Bitcoin and Lightning Network transactions.
Twitter's decision to incorporate Bitcoin tipping was driven by the growing demand for cross-border financial transactions and Bitcoin's potential as a global currency. Initially available on iOS, the feature was set to expand to other platforms.
