Hey Bitcoiners,

The New York Times doesn’t like Bitcoin, or Bitcoin mining and they weren’t going to let things like facts get in the way of writing a hit piece on it. But bitcoiners and bitcoin companies aren’t going to stand idly by and leave the record uncorrected. Riot Platforms wrote this response citing six distortions in the New York Times article titled “The Real-World Cost of the Digital Race for Bitcoin.” Skip the Times piece and read this instead.

Country Manager — My First Bitcoin

My First Bitcoin is looking for an experienced operations person, an A-player (or a B-player that’s in the process/determined of becoming an A-player). This person is going to oversee our organization’s ongoing operations and procedures in El Salvador and will be responsible for the efficiency of the mission.

The Country Manager reports to the Visionary leader and board of directors. He or she needs to maintain control of diverse operations/projects, so we expect him/her to be an experienced and efficient leader.

The goal of this position is to secure the functionality of the mission to drive extensive and sustainable growth in El Salvador (making the abstract goals and strategies concrete). He/she works closely with the board of directors and is responsible for maintaining and driving operational results within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for operations management: managing and maintaining all (standard) day-to-day operations (and logistical details) – and responsible for the implementation of the organization’s strategy + execution (creating the results, and bringing the vision to life)
Overseeing daily administrative and operational functions of the organization and the work of department heads (managers)
Designing and implementing operations and procedures
Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth (aligned with the mission, vision, strategy, and core values)
Establishing policies that promote My First Bitcoin’s culture and vision
Evaluate performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics
Great understanding of the vision, mission, intermediate goals, and strategies (decided by strategic team – big picture not created by this person, but understood by working closely together with the strategic team)
Detailed understanding of all our operations (from strategic level to tactic level to operational level)
Practical, concrete, and detail-oriented personality (very organized and structured)
Needs to be able to work with all types of people - excellent people skills and communication skills (high emotional and social intelligence) as he oversees all departments throughout the organization.
Guiding and leading department heads to encourage maximum performance, motivation and dedication
Manage relationships with partners

Reporting directly (and providing recommendations and feedback) to the board of directors - communicating important problems (making the complex simple and understandable).
Write and submit reports in all matters of importance
Handling budgeting and finances

Requirements and skills

Demonstrable competency in leadership, management, implementation of strategies/plans, and execution – understanding and maintaining the entire operation (from big picture to details)
Outstanding organizational and leadership abilities
Proven experience as Country Manager or relevant role (or is a natural B-player who’s in the process of becoming an A-player)
Applicant should be fully fluent in both English and Spanish
Be willing to relocate to El Salvador if needed
Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills
Understanding all different functions of a mission-oriented organization
Working knowledge of data analysis and performance/operation metrics
Working knowledge of IT/MS Office, and Google Drive
Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving
A thorough understanding of Bitcoin, as well as a willingness to learn about the legal and cultural landscape of El Salvador.
