TD₿: The Last Days of Satoshi: What Happened When Bitcoin's Creator Disappeared by Pete Rizzo
TL;DR The last communications of Satoshi allude to a figure who knew he had to walk away in order for it to succeed
Hey Bitcoiners,
Two days ago marked the anniversary of the day that Satoshi Nakamoto disappeared from the Bitcoin project he created, never to be heard from again.
The mystery around Satoshi Nakamoto continues to captivate people to this day.
When he walked away from Bitcoin, he selflessly gave up all the personal fame, notoriety, and influence that would come from creating the most important technological innovation of our time.
I like to think he knew that in order for Bitcoin to succeed, it had to be truly leaderless. He represented an attack vector. As long as he was involved, Bitcoin would be at risk.
On top of leaving behind the adulation, Satoshi also has not sold a single sat in 13 years. He currently owns 1 million bitcoin worth ~$40 billion dollars today. This makes Satoshi the ultimate hodler.
Pete Rizzo wrote an in-depth piece that delved into the last communications and how the Bitcoin community continued forward after its original creator left (04/26/2021).
If Satoshi is reading this, all I want to say is thank you for gifting the world digital sound money and having the foresight and humility to walk away.
Bitcoin is stronger for it.
Tick tock next block,
