TD₿: The 4th Bitcoin Epoch and You (a thread) by John Vallis
TL;DR You don't change Bitcoin, Bitcoin changes you.
Hey Bitcoiners,
Back in the spring of 2020, we celebrated Bitcoin’s third halving event when the block subsidy was cut in half to 6.25 bitcoin per block.
This was a celebration of Bitcoin’s programmatic monetary policy that will never be changed…ever.
At the time, the halving occurred in stark contrast to the traditional financial industry. This was right around the time when the central bankers were cutting interest rates and pumping the market with liquidity in response to the pandemic.
Bitcoin’s monetary policy, on the other hand, was hardening right on schedule regardless of external events.
It reminds me of a common mantra in Bitcoin…“You don’t change Bitcoin, Bitcoin changes you.”
Bitcoin’s monetary policy is set in stone and because of this, you can trust it long into the future. This changes how a person starts to think and behave in ways we don’t yet fully understand today.
John Vallis explored how Bitcoin is changing the way people behave in this thread written around the 3rd halving event (05/07/2020).
With each passing halving, Bitcoin is changing the way we analyze the world around us.
It makes you think…how will I see the world at Bitcoin’s next halving event?
Tick tock next block,
