TD₿: Sphinx Chat, encrypted chat over LN by Marty Bent with Paul Itoi
TL;DR The Bitcoin Network will enable new forms of encrypted, censorship-resistant communication.
Hey Bitcoiners,
On Monday, Jack Dorsey shocked the world when he announced his resignation from Twitter after over 6 years as its CEO.
This is interesting when considering Jack’s quote from the Bitcoin 2021 conference:
“If it [Bitcoin] needed more help than Square or Twitter, I would leave them for Bitcoin.” - Jack Dorsey
Jack may have left to spend more time on Bitcoin, but he also may have resigned due to Twitter no longer aligning with his principles.
Is it a coincidence that a day after Jack left, Twitter announced new policies that banned “private media” and prevents people from replying to others’ tweets?
Regardless, these developments are concerning. It’s clear that we need to build decentralized, censorship-resistant tools of communication. Sphinx Chat is a part of a new wave of innovation in this area.
It enables encrypted communication built on top of the Lightning Network and gives us an idea of how we might communicate in the future.
Sphinx Chat co-founder Paul Itoi sat down with Marty Bent to discuss Sphinx Chat in this fascinating conversation (03/17/2021).
Sphinx Chat is an important reminder that Bitcoin is much more than an asset.
