TD₿: Schrödinger's Bitcoin (a thread) by Gigi
TL;DR Common Bitcoin critiques are full of contradictions.
Hey Bitcoiners,
I was invited to a dinner the other night with an old family friend and some of his acquaintances.
All of these individuals are very smart and successful in their respective fields, so I was excited for the dinner. I was looking forward to picking the brains of some market veterans about the current state of geopolitics, energy, and the economy.
What transpired instead was what I would describe as an ambush on a Bitcoiner. It was never hostile, but the conversation immediately divulged into FTX and how I was wrong about Bitcoin. I then had to sit there as they walked me through all the typical Bitcoin FUD as if I hadn’t heard their arguments a thousand times before.
As I typically do, I just sat there and listened. I let them go on and on about Bitcoin’s volatility, intrinsic value, how it will be banned, its energy use…all of it. Once they were finished, I took a deep breath, and thoroughly explained why each and every one of their points was flawed.
I was outnumbered 5 to 1 at that dinner, but I have to admit, I think I held my ground. By the end of the meal, the tone of the conversation had shifted. Instead of telling me why I was so wrong about Bitcoin, they were asking questions. Progress.
I think the reason that this was the outcome of the dinner wasn’t that I’m some great debater or intellect. It was because I had the truth on my side.
You see, with typical Bitcoin FUD, you will find that a lot of these arguments fall apart rather quickly in the face of reason and facts.
Gigi wrote an incredible thread about Schrödinger's Bitcoin that goes along with this idea that’s well worth your time. (08/14/2021)
All common Bitcoin critiques are full of contradictions that are easily exposed by someone who has put in the time and work to understand Bitcoin.
However, it’s important to listen to people and be patient with them. Bitcoin is a brand new idea, and it’s hard to understand at first. Have empathy for the fact that we were all Bitcoin beginners at one point.
By meeting these gentlemen halfway and then debunking their claims with evidence, reason, and respect, I may have just orange-pilled them, or at least got them more interested in learning about Bitcoin themselves.
This is the way.

Meme of the Day
I’m not quite there to where I could hold off a 5-to-1 ambush, but learning more every day. Anybody have a top book recommendation that would help for that?
Bitcoiners will be rewarded for putting in the work to truly understand it. Nice job Sam.
