TD₿: Scarcity Unlocked in the Digital Age by Vijay Boyapati
TL;DR Bitcoin is the culmination of decades of work that resulted in the monumental achievement of digital scarcity.
Hey Bitcoiners,
People always go on and on about how Bitcoin is digital gold or Bitcoin is an open monetary network, both of which are true but fail to capture the profoundness of this invention.
When you break it down further, what you realize is that Bitcoin is the invention of digital scarcity for the digital age.
Before Bitcoin, scarcity on the internet was kind of an oxymoron. Everything on the internet is basically a copy of something else or can be copied, except for Bitcoin.
Now we have a scarce digital asset that has the ability to be transacted at the speed of light and stored securely, but not copied. This is a monumental breakthrough for the world.
In this Twitter thread, author Vijay Boyapati explains this concept of digital scarcity and how it became unlocked for the world with Bitcoin (08/23/2018).
Bitcoin is the final culmination of the work of countless entrepreneurs, cryptographers, and computer scientists whose work before it was utilized to finally achieve the end goal: digital scarcity.
