TD₿: How to Mine Bitcoin [Beginner’s Guide] by Braiins
TL;DR If you’re looking to mine Bitcoin at home to make money or just as a hobby, this will tell you everything you need to know to get started.
Hey Bitcoiners,
There is something soothing about hearing the sound of a Bitcoin mining ASIC hashing away.
A majority of people might be turned off by the sound of a Bitcoin mining operation. It can easily be mistaken for a roaring jet engine. But all I hear is the sound of freedom or, as ECBSJ more eloquently puts it, “the sound of a revolutionary technological symphony.”
Miners play a pivotal role in the Bitcoin ecosystem. They timestamp transactions, and create and add blocks to the Bitcoin blockchain. In return for their work, new bitcoins are issued, and they are rewarded via the block subsidy and transaction fees.
As a beginner, it may be enticing to start mining on your own, especially if you have access to cheap electricity. But it is important to understand that mining Bitcoin is no simple endeavor.
Bitcoin mining is a ruthlessly competitive industry, and so to mine profitably, you need to do your homework and make sure all your ducks are in a row before you plug in.
A great place to start learning about mining is this beginner’s guide written by the folks over at Braiins. (12/15/2020).
If you can figure out how to mine efficiently and get paid in sats to secure freedom money, well, I’d call that a win-win.
To all the miners out there, keep hashing, and thank you for your service.
Tick tock next block,

Quote of the Day
“Bitcoin mining is the process of throwing darts randomly at a dartboard as big as the number of atoms in the universe. The bullseye size is auto adjusted every 2016 hits so that we hit one bullseye every 10m on average. Too many hits, bullseye shrinks. Not enough, bullseye grows.” - Yan Pritzker, CTO of Swan Bitcoin
