TD₿: Explain Bitcoin Like I’m Five by Nik Custodio
TL;DR The perfect piece to share with kids and beginners to learn the Bitcoin basics.
Hey Bitcoiners,
The other day, a Bitcoiner I respect told me that time is on our side.
He elaborated further and what he meant by this was two-fold:
1.) The current debt-fueled fiat monetary system is unsustainable and Bitcoin is built to last.
2.) Young people are more open to Bitcoin and adoption trends show that most Bitcoin adoption has come from people between the ages of 24-38.
It reminds me of this quote from the German physicist Max Planck…
“A new scientific truth does not triumph by convincing its opponents and making them see the light, but rather because its opponents eventually die, and a new generation grows up that is familiar with it.”
Now that Bitcoin is 13 years old, we now live in a time where every person born after 2009 has only known a world where Bitcoin exists.
As this Bitcoin Generation grows older and becomes interested in learning about new things, it’s important to provide Bitcoin educational materials that suit their needs.
This blog post from Nik Custodio is an excellent example of child-friendly Bitcoin content (12/12/2013).
As Bitcoin continues to age, so will its critics who largely skew older. As father time does its thing, the children of today will inherit the wealth of tomorrow and continue to embrace digital money for the digital age. As time goes on, fiat currencies will increasingly be viewed as an archaic adage of the past.
At its heart, Bitcoin is a youth movement.

Agree although I'm an outlier I've been in For 5 years. I'm 61. I gave my granddaughter a hardware wallet with 1 BTC on her birthday in 2020. Her dad (my son) tipped me off to BTC but he hasn't went down the rabbit hole yet.
