TD₿: Bitcoin Cultures (a presentation) by Giacomo Zucco
TL;DR The cultural roots of Bitcoin are wide-ranging and diverse given Bitcoin is for everyone.
Hey Bitcoiners,
Bitcoin is a global asset that attracts individuals from all walks of life. Therefore, it’s difficult to define what Bitcoin culture is. Bitcoiners generally agree on fundamental ideas like freedom and sound money, but they also frequently disagree with each other.
For one to fully understand why that is, they have to comprehend that Bitcoin is multidisciplinary. A person needs to have some knowledge of economics, computer science, history, sociology, cryptography, game theory, etc.
Because of this, Bitcoin brings together engineers, speculators, and revolutionaries who all arrive at the same technology for very different reasons. This creates subcultures within the greater culture of Bitcoin that can at times clash with one another.
Some people are here to simply profit off of Bitcoin’s adoption. Others are here because they are fascinated with the engineering feat that is Bitcoin. While others are here because they see Bitcoin as a way to fundamentally change the monetary system that we have today.
Despite these differences, all Bitcoiners are still joined together on this greater mission to push the adoption of Bitcoin forward.
Giacomo Zucco gave this presentation at Unconfiscatable 2022 in Las Vegas that hilariously tries to explain the different subcultures that exist in Bitcoin today (03/05/2022).
Bitcoin is for all Bitcoiners regardless of political, social, or economic ideologies.
The beauty of this diversity of thought is there will always be a subculture within the broader Bitcoin culture that will be there to accept a new Bitcoiner with open arms.

Meme of the Day
Freedom Go Up = Number Go Up.
The moral case for Bitcoin is compelling and sufficient onto itself IMO but NgU is what got me in first.
Hyperbitcoinization cannot come soon enough.
