About the Role
We are adding an Accounting Manager to our growing Accounting and Finance Department. This position will report directly to the VP of Accounting. The responsibilities and authority of the position are consistent with those customarily assigned to a manager-level finance team member of a high-growth public reporting entity including, but not limited to, understanding complex accounting issues, owning various monthly close functions, taking on various ad hoc projects, managing a team, and identifying process improvement initiatives.
Essential Functions
Responsible for the month end close process, including preparation of certain monthly journal entries, review of journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Prepare subsidiary and/or consolidated financial statement packages for internal reporting, including providing explanations for variances from prior periods and from budget.
Work closely with the HR Department, record payroll-related journal entries and prepare associated reconciliations.
Understand stock-based compensation accounting and assist with stock administration functions.
Understand capital versus expense accounting and appropriately apply the Company’s capitalization policy, including working closely with the operations and construction/development teams to ensure proper coding, depreciation, and budget tracking.
Understand intercompany accounting and consolidation eliminations.
Supervise and provide guidance to a team of accountants.
Work with outside auditors during quarterly reviews and year-end audits, ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley documentation and testing requirements.
Identify opportunities for automation and efficiencies in the accounting processes.
Qualifications
Extensive, hands-on experience with monthly close process and reporting package deliverables.
Advanced understanding of U.S. GAAP principles.
Take initiative to identify problems, collect data, establish facts, analyze and interpret financial data to determine valid conclusions.
Must prioritize and manage workload to meet critical deadlines.
Have an entrepreneurial mindset with the desire for ad hoc projects.
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel.
Education and Experience
Required: A minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting.
Preferred: Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Preferred: Public accounting experience.
Preferred: Supervisory experience with responsibility for monthly close process.
Preferred systems experience: NetSuite, PeopleSoft or similar ERP system.
Compensation and Benefits
$100,000 - $125,000 commensurate with experience
